Which is bigger?

On some comparisons of country sizes, it says the USA is bigger than China, but on some Jetpunk quizzes (i.e. https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/178909/10-countries-closest-in-size-to-argentina), it says China is bigger than the USA. So which is true?

I think it depends on whether Alaska counts or not

It does not. Its that the US likes to inflate its area by including coastal waters while excluding it for others.

For me, it does. Alaska is like Sicile for Italy or Corse for France, even North Ireland for UK. It's by evidence in the country, whereas very far regions are not (like Guiana, Guadalupe or St Helen)

The United States with Alaska will still be smaller than China.
