Why Can’t My Quiz Be Nominated?

Submitted by Basaball on September 11, 2025
Why can’t my quiz be nominated? It’s not a copy of another quiz and it doesn’t seem to be an exact similar quiz. It’s on my profile. It’s 500 Biggest Urban Areas Without Map. It can be found here.

(Sorry can’t figure out how to add link)

Quizzes with more than 100 answers can't receive nominations.

But how come the Countries of the world quiz and quizzes with like all the countries can be?

because it was added later, to avoid people copying COTW and making miriads of minor variations.

Quizzes that are over the 100 answer limit can be featured, but they can't be featured via what's colloquially known as the "nomination system", where the quiz with the most nominations gets featured every Monday.

Thank you @cathlete. Do you know why that is?

I don't know/remember QM's specific reasoning for that restriction. I believe it has to do with avoiding having quizzes that are too niche/difficult clog up the nominated quizzes list.

You can see the other restrictions if you click "Nomination Policies" here.

Found on the Change Log, under 23rd July 2022:

"Starting on July 23, 2022 only quizzes with fewer than 100 questions, less than 70 characters in their title, and less than 500 characters in the description and caveats will be eligible for nominations. Quizzes submitted before July 23 are not subject to this requirement."

I would say that the 100 limit for nominated quizzes is the one thing I hate about JetPunk. I've said this on a few occasions, but I've had two quizzes, much larger than 100 answers, featured via nominations. With the new system, that would never have been possible.

I agree with the idea about restricting the number of unimaginative versions of the Countries of the World quiz - I find them utterly mind-numbing, to be honest - but a consequent blanket ban on all quizzes with more than 100 answers is not a suitable or proportionate solution in my opinion.

It's one of the main issues I've had with JP for a while, they treat decisions a bit too black and white. Don't get me wrong, that works well for areas such as the comments, but using this for quizzes and nominations in particular is questionable in my opinion. I think the whole nominations platform is a very thorny issue, which I've spoken about at length in the past.
