18th Century A-Z includes things that *didn't* happen in the 18th Century? If that's the case, what about this for A: "This tiny particle hadn't been discovered yet (atom)"? For M: "No one had walked on this nearby celestial object yet (moon)". For R: "This revolutionary theory of post-Newtonian physics hadn't been posited yet (relativity)".

There is only thing thing in the quiz that "didn't happen" during the century; as you seem to disapprove of its inclusion, why do you bother suggesting more? Perhaps something else could have been found for A that DID happen, but I'm personally OK with it. Antarctica is a full continent on its own, and the 18th century was the last one where it was still undiscovered.

Yeah, also Antarctica was found in 1820, not long after the end of the 18th century. In contrast, the atom (and all the other things you mentioned) weren't discovered/didn't occur until at least 100 years later.

Well no it does not, 1800 is in the 18th century. The 18th century is from 1701-1800, not 1700-1799 because there is no year 0

QM: In addition to the campaign in Switzerland, in 1798 the French army ran campaigns in Egypt, Syria, Malta and nearby island of Gozo. That year they captured Cairo, Alexandria, Jaffa, Valletta, Mdina and Gozo in addition to Zurich. At least the largest of these cities should be accepted as answers too.

Great quiz, just one thing though- The French entered Switzerland in 1798, but the first and second

Battles of, and subsequent capture of Zurich weren't until 1799.

Damn, I didn't think of the right answer for the beheaded people because in my brain, beheading means "décapiter", whereas what happened there was "guillotiner". Résult is the same, just the way to do it is in my mind different. ^^

Fun fact: The term Yankees is a derivative of 'Jan-Kees', a common name given to the Dutch in New Netherland colony (based in New Amsterdam). So when you're cussing at New Englanders, you're basically insulting them with being Dutch
