Dang, I knew that the UK's 99-year Hong Kong lease ran out in the late 1990s, so I thought 1890 would be a right answer.

Next can we have "21st Century Dates - Within 13 Years". I'll be better at that.

The 99 year lease was only applicable for the New Territories, which were acquired later. The original part of Hong Kong, including Hong Kong island were ceded to the UK in its entirety.

Kindof. The 99-year lease extended the British Crown Colony to include the Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories. But as the 1997 date approached, it was determined to be impractical to segregate the Island from the NT, and so the entire territory of Hong Kong reverted to Chinese sovereignty.

PLEASE refrain from using the ai thumbnails. There are a thousand paintings of Napoleon online, and this thumbnail (and the Nicholas ai on the last quiz) are noticeably bad ai

This was tricky. I knew all of these were 19th century, but it’s like my brain just stopped at the 18 bit and didn’t remember the last two digits. Much stronger now, thanks quizmaster!

PS: Maybe randomise the order to really test your knowledge?

I usually don't say anything bad about using AI to generate thumbnails, because I use them from time to time.

So is 1806, 1807, and 1809. This should be fixed as the description says 15 years and that seems to be the case for all other answers.

Yeah, any date within 15 years of it should be valid, please fix QM. I didn't notice it when I was taking the quiz because it was one of the dates I knew without having to guess, but I tested it afterward and as of today it's still a problem.

The description in the last question may be wrong. The modern oil industry began a couple of years earlier when a Pole Ignacy Łukasiewicz started his oil wells and refineries business in southern Poland
