True, but five out of nine cities with the given continent are quite easy to guess even without the hint, while Auckland skyline is not so recognisable without a little help...
In my opinion, that is the opposite. My country's capital Islamabad is also one of those planned capital cities. These type of cities are the best. While others are also great, these ones stand out. Others include Washington DC, Belmopan, Naypyidaw (gosh, i have trouble spelling it) and Abuja.
Brasilia is a notoriously unwalkable national capital. It was meant to be futuristic and it accurately predicted American standalone chain store sprawl. Horrible.
Why do we lump the Americas together? They're two separate continents. If you get technical, Europe and Asia are the same one so why not lump those together too?
In many countries around the world, they do lump North and South America into one continent. There is no one established way of defining a continent (some countries also include Europe in Asia).
When I was young (not so very long ago) it was quite normal for people to talk about the five continents. That certainly counted the Americas as one. I can't quite work out what the others were though - perhaps it counted Australasia as part of Asia? Not sure.
Way too little time imo. People not getting luxor is good indicator, all those skylines with big skyscrapers look rather similar (so understandable if people dont get some), but luxor is very distinct. So most of the people not getting it, just didnt reach that one.
The Cape Town pic was weird. It's really about identifying the landforms around the city rather than the city itself, which is almost impossible to discern. It's not like it's not one of the world's most easily-identifiable cities.
To my mind what makes Cape Town distinctive (apart from Table Mountain) is the shape of the geography around it - I recognised it straight away, despite not recognising several of the others.

I thought Doha was also easy even though I didn't recognise it because of the construction on the water in an arid climate.
Mexico was the hardest for me but still guessable.
