Is it really fidschi in german? that is really funny :) (reminds me of veni vidi foetsie, a parody on veni vidi vici, where foetsie means vanished. But it is a special kind of word, cant describe it, maybe like tada, or sort of more childrens language, or like kaput. It is not a word you would come across in official language anyway)

Also, not sure about the Laos clue. Are you suggesting that if Vietnam didn't exist, then Laos would de facto occupy its land, thus touching the ocean? If so, the clue would also work with Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, even China. They all prevent Laos from bordering the sea...

It doesn't matter if other countries could replace the clue. The clue as written is valid: the only landlocked country that would have coast if Vietnam vanished is Laos.
