I feel that every time a quiz has the word "America" or any of its characteristics, the comments get spammed with how "everyone" hates the country. Don't hate on us because we are large, highly populated, and have a great economy. And if you are really that jealous of the country then why don't you just pack up your bags and move here?

lucky. i love the lord of the rings and the hobbit and would love to see new zealand someday. i must say even though i just watched the lord of the rings trilogy last month i still miss the rolling hills and little rivers of the shire, and would love to see them in person. also since you live there can you go over to hobbiton someday and ask for them to plant the party tree next to bag end? (i heard that it was the only part of the shire that was a prop). ok ive got to stop im nerding out.

It's an inferiority complex which manifests outwardly as a superiority complex. The guy complaining in the comments above is clearly suffering from this. The frequency and nature of the complaints leave only one plausible explanation.

How is yogurt related to Greece? It was invented in Central Asia (or perhaps the Middle East or India), its name comes from Turkish and until the 20th century, it was popular in the entire Ottoman Empire and elsewhere, not just Greece. Or is there an English proverb or phrase or such about Greek yogurt? For example, I hadn't heard of Greek yogurt until just now.

According to the Wikipedia article, there are suppositions and presumptions about its origins (very reasonable, well-founded ones) that it originated in central Asia, but the first historical association mentioned is greek. It's a perfectly reasonable clue.

To Cyanidecarrot: The USA's ultimate downfall will be because it keeps sticking its nose into other countries' affairs and routinely gets stabbed in the back as thanks. If we adhered to the Monroe Doctrine we would

not have this problem. Let all of those who so gleefully criticize the USA at the slightest provocation (such as on these quiz sites), fend

for themselves, and let us mind our own business for once.

+4
Level 68
Aug 9, 2018
The Monroe Doctrine was implemented at a time when the world was more fractured. International relations are more complicated now, and countries are inextricably linked. If the economy of Europe tanks, it will affect the US. The US brands its intervention as "humanitarian aid" because it's good PR, but most of its intervention has a practical purpose. Becoming a hermit state in the 21st century is not beneficial.
