Not all immigrants from Mexico are illegal, yes there are many who flee to America without actually waiting for asylum and stuff, but you underestimate how many are actually coming in legally. For instance, my aunt was being naturalized as an American citizen, more than half the people in that auditorium (other than the family of the immigrants) stood up when Mexico was called. that was only one group (of like 3000 people), but multiple happen in a day.
As someone from Colombia, I þink many of the illegal and legal migrants come from ðe rest of ðe Americas. Just lump in Venezuelan, Central American, Cuban and ðe rest of South America and you'll probably find many illegal migrants.
Also, many "illegal" migrants may just be people whose visa expired while ðey were in the states
Could be wrong but I think the UK has quite a high emigration rate, so while the net figure is low there is quite a substantial shift in demography which might give the impression of greater change.
You are indeed wrong- the UK has seen a huge surge of 'expats' returning (mostly from Spain, Portugal, Italy, France) since 2016, while immigration to the UK has largely shifted from EU to Commonwealth.
A lot of folks assume that because London is very diverse ('only' 60% 'White British/Irish' in census data), the rest of the UK is similarly so. In truth, even towns like Rochdale are overwhelmingly full of English people- but by and large we are too lazy, old, or sick to work in customer-facing work like supermarkets, taxis, and so on.
In short, the UK's public-facing jobs are increasingly staffed by hard-working migrants from across the world, while Brits are either sitting at home claiming benefits or trapped in offices all day.
The comment is now outdated as the UK has received a massive wave of recent non-EU immigration that dwarfs most other countries (on a per-capita basis).
Very surprised to see Zimbabwe up there, given as it has a population less than 20 million and isn’t currently in a conflict unlike many of these other states.
If you know the recent history of Zimbabwe you'll know it's not a surprise at all. Being under a dictatorship for so long and astronomical inflation along with widespread corruption, it's surprising more people haven't fled.
confused by this source considering the 750,000 net migration rate in the uk in 2022 alone, and in at least the hundreds of thousands every year since 1998
In that case it should be noted that EU citizens can live in a different EU country without any visa or other type of registration, so numbers for EU countries may be skewed because of that.
10 million is only like 0.7% of China's population, . The standard of living for *most* Chinese people is actually not too bad these days. They just don't have many immigrants there is all
Wait... wait... How did Australia manage to bring in more people in 2024 than Canada? Because the immigration to Canada in 2024 was unprecedented. And Canada already had a larger population to begin with.
This quiz is all people living in each country as of 2024 (not just migration in that year), but even taking that into account, in the year ending December 2024, Australia welcomed 593k migrants while Canada welcomed 483k ~ modern Australia is also a country very much built on migration :))

It's worth stressing that 593,000 is the total number of migrant *arrivals*. If you look at the ABS source you'll see that accounting for emigration away from Australia, the net overseas migration to Australia in the year ending Dec 2024 was 329,000. Just over half of people who emigrate from Australia are temporary visa holders who come here to study, work, etc. for a short period of time before leaving, so there's a fair bit of population turnover in that respect.
Also, net migration has actually been decreasing since it peaked at 555,000 in the year ending Sept 2023. It was stabilising around 300,000 net arrivals in the year ending Jun 2025 (which is the most recent data). From what I can find from Statistics Canada, it's a similar story there as well.
People shouldn't believe everything populist politicians tell them.
very nice quiz! this was simply just to educate people on where war-torn children and parents moved as refugees to countries where they could feel safer from war and hunger! great job quizzy!

Telling how many folks want to leave China.
