I don't want to tell you guys how to define your language, but if you invent a word pronounced "automat" and the answer to what you buy there isn't "cars", you failed at naming stuff.

No, that's an automart. It's on the corner by the laundromat.

Auto means "self", Automobile "selfmoving". That was actually a difficult question for me, because in my native language, automats describe a wide array of machines, from ones giving snacks, drinks, toys, cigarettes or condoms.

have to agree there, even once you know it means vending machine I have seen eggs, chocolate, drinks, phones, cigarettes, condoms .. i wouldn't eat all of these.

I think it's a very generic term as well. I first thought of an automat for tickets for public transport.

I only got the right answer by guessing some of the things you already listed. The question was very confusing for me.

Tried snacks and drinks and when that didn't work, thought that it didn't mean vending machine, gave up and moved on.

The definition is different in different languages, but in English, it refers to a machine or cafeteria where food is dispensed.

I got it because when I was young when people went to New York City one thing they wanted to do was eat at The Automat. We saw it in movies.

The purple lightsaber was actually a request for Episode II, he doesn't use it in the first one.

I agree about the Automat thing - is the question even about an English word?

I just thought of a German Automat, which could be dispensing almost anything - or even just be a machine of some kind

Amygdala had me confused. In French, we use the word "amygdales" for tonsels, so I tried throat, mouth, larynx and a number of other variations. (I also tried Naboo, just to see if the Quizmaster was feeling funny.)

Funny - just before doing this quiz, I was watching "Free Solo", where the amygdala came up. Had I done the quiz about half an hour earlier, I wouldn't have been able to answered that particular question!

The Achilles' tendon is also known as the calcaneal tendon (the calcaneus is the heel bone). I believe calcaneal is more preferred by anatomists these days as it's more descriptive.
