I reckon 'cerebral cortex' should be accepted for 'cerebrum'. It makes up the majority of the cerebrum and could therefore reasonably be defined as the largest of the three 'main' parts of the brain.

The three main parts are the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain stem. The cerebral cortex is not the largest of those three because it's not one of those three.. even if it makes up the largest part of one of the three.

Technically the 'two-headed arm muscle' should be Biceps Brachii not just Biceps because there's the Biceps Femoris in the anterior compartment of the upper leg.
+1
Level 35
May 20, 2016
Technically it should. However the muscle he is referring to is commonly called biceps. Like in other clues, it would ask you for a scientific name if it wanted one.

How about "ventricular chamber" ? That's basicly the same, isn't it? Also spelling pituitary was hard. I tried "pituary" and knew I missed letters, but couldn't have figured out which ones.

Took neuroanatomy many years ago. Cranial nerve 2 is the optic nerve that brings messages from retina to brain for sight. Cranial nerve 3 is oculomoter & contols pupil size. Should be an alternate acceptable answer.

Is there a reason that the word "thigh" isn't used in the quad clue? I presumably misread the question and thought it meant literally where the knee is, but I also think it'd just make for a cleaner clue as well as being clearer?

Wondering if it would make sense to change "man" to "male"? Admittedly, I don't know as many trans people as I should (so I might be wrong here) but it's my perception that "man" usually refers to gender, while "male" refers to sex (chromosomal in this case), which is the relevant factor here.
+1

Jul 29, 2025
It would be a bit more accurate since "man" refers only to an adult male in any case.
+1

A trans man usually identifies as male, and a trans woman with a y chromosome usually doesn't. So a more inclusive clue might be "one of two genetic markers for biological sex"
