The characteristics of this city are so caricatured that it's easy to get 100% on the first try IMO!

High risk for injury in Camel races. Just look it up on Youtube. Camels weigh over 1000 pounds and can move faster than most people think.

Also, as a side note, they cause many fatalitites and total many cars a year on inter-city highways over there by people inadvertently crashing into them. I've been in that situation once, and I gotta tell you, scariest 3 minutes of my life. We somehow managed to slow down and park on the emergency lane without someone coming at us from behind, as we waited for that formidable beast to stroll along past us, stoically chewing its cud, patiently looking for an opening to cross over this nuiscant line of asphalt that rudely cuts his dominion in half.

The Lion may be King of the Jungle, but in the desert, the Camel reigns supreme. Make no mistake.

Dubai represents pretty much everything that's wrong with the world: an oppressive religious regime, an environmental catastrophe, and the peak of senseless materialism. I wouldn't want to go there if you paid me!

Agree! It has long been a minor mission of mine to never go to Vegas for some of those reasons. Dubai is similar but different. Turns out I don't have any money for travel so ... winning.

The regime is oppressive in many ways but it's definitely not religious. Don't fall into that misconception. They don't claim that and they actually fight Islamism brutally on every front, and Islam itself on many fronts, whether explicitly or implicitly. There are actually no Islamic regimes anywhere in the Arab World. The one(s) who once claimed that they are (i.e. Saudi Arabia) have nothing to show for it except hypocrisy.

Whatever Islamic values they impose are due to their conservative, formerly bedouin traditions, which are eroding with each generation. The religious activities of the residents are tightly monitored and controlled by the government, mostly restricted to large, highly ornate and attractive mosques, mainly built to boast; built and maintained by indentured Asian labourers that make up the backbone of that country. In these mosques, scripted Friday sermons are preached, various promoted spiritual activities are held in the religious seasons, and any attempt from a scholar to teach lessons to a large audience or grow an influential charity must be approved and monitered by the government. If deemed as a risk that person usually disappears and is never seen again. No due process. No accountability. No justice. All these are core Islamic values that any ruler should maintain.
