It's always strange how much weight people try to give Dylan's home by accident of birth over the home that he chose.

New York had INFINITELY more influence on his music than Minnesota ever had.

Because words have meanings. Dylan was born in Minnesota and lived there for 20 years. The only place he could possibly be "from" is Minnesota.

I don't follow rap at all and got most of them. These aren't exactly obscure songs -- I'd bet most of them have been in a movie trailer at some point.

Please replace P. Diddy with Billy Joel, I think that's the biggest miss. He encapsulates New York more than a lot of musicians

MGMT seems an odd choice. They formed and recorded their first music while at Wesleyan (Middletown, CT) and aren't really associated with the NYC music scene. Perhaps you are confusing them with Vampire Weekend? They have a similar origin story but started at Columbia (NYC).
