Oh, no...not just you. I saw DS and disco singer and immediately typed Disco Stu. Then when I saw the part about having number one hits, I actually heard in Disco Stu's voice, "Disco Stu won't work for you!"
I still think Xiaoping should be an accepted answer, regardless of Chinese name configuration. All the other answers, you do not need to type in the "D" portion of the answer. This one should be no exception.
I think I tried typing velesquaz or something.. because I was about to comment that perhaps velasquez could be accepted as a type in. But I tried it (restarted the quiz) to be sure and it was accepted. So I think I mixed up the vowels or something. It didnt take my answers and I gave up, cause it was a hunch anyway..
Was anyone else unaware that there was a remake of War of the Worlds? I was going back decades in my mind, desperately trying to think who it could have been...
I spelled David Tennant wrong, yet still got the point. However, I wrote "Dweezel" with an "e" instead of an "i" and I didn't get the point. A little more consistency, please.
Dolly Parton has done so many notable things that she's well known for -- singer-songwriter of 'Jolene'; has a theme park named for her; has a literacy program that gives children books every month until they reach kindergarten; helped fund development of a COVID vaccine. Why objectify her by reducing her to her breasts? Could this clue be modified to be about something she has accomplished or done?
I wasted several minutes for no good reason. The test refused to accept "Xiaoping" despite that being the correct answer. Erased it, typed it again, and again and again, capitalized and lower case, It would not accept the correct answer. Why not?
Since the quiz was timed, I used one name per answer since my internet connection is always rather slow. Consistent with everything else in the quiz, I used Xiaoping only. Apparently, the answer should have been his surname which in Chinese comes first... seriously? If that's so, then your quiz has TWO "D" answers and no "X" answers. Please don't resort to that type of "gotcha", anyone who can remember Xiaoping and is not fluent in Chinese or Chinese naming customs should be given the benefit of the doubt as they obviously know WHO the person being asked about actually is. Are you asking for absolute 100% accuracy along with foreign language and customs skills? Yes. Is doing so somewhat poor sportsmanship, well, yes. Still, as always a quiz to make one think - I didn't know a couple of the European sports figures and don't watch Dr. Who, so I didn't get those - but then so many of the quizzes on here are so USA oriented that its only fair that we get disadvantaged sometimes too!
-every other answer in the D quiz asks for the second name
-the E quiz accepts a given name (Elvis)
-knowing 'Xiaoping' shows knowledge of the subject... more so than just typing 'x' in the M quiz for Malcolm Little
Thanks
me: “…Doctor Ten???”
Good grief.
