"Largest city on the coast of Georgia" i didnt even try this one because i thought "welp, idk any city in Georgia other than Tbilisi". when the quiz ended i just laughed at myself when i noticed it was about Georgia, US (i wouldn't know anyway). pretty funny
This is especially funny when you realize that there is another clue on the quiz specifically about the fact that "Georgia" is both a U.S. state and a country.
That's what I did as well... I even thought 'oh Georgia is given earlier in the quiz, bit of a giveaway'.
Anyway, needs some clarifying because the country is more important than the US state. It's pretty reasonable to default to the country. Personally I think one of the Georgia questions should be removed.
I agree it should be clear when they mean US State. Though with 12 out of 27 questions being for Americans only, perhaps one should always assume America with these quizzes.
If you compare cities proper, Savannah only has 150k people, smaller than Batumi's 180k.
But I don't think city-proper comparisons between different countries make much sense, since they define city limits differently. Comparing metro areas is often a better mesure, and if you do, Savannah is bigger: around 400k people, vs around 300k for Batumi.
Savannah is also larger in the literal sense: the city proper is just under 300 km², whereas Batumi is only 65 km².
Paris is not in the top 1000 most common first names in the United States. There are more than four times as many people named Eugune as there are Paris.
Any chance you could specify that it's Georgia the state in the US for the question "Largest city on the coast of Georgia"? I thought it was talking about the country Georgia and was quite confused
May be generational. I went to school with a couple Dallases and a Savannah. I think London is a bit younger and Trent a bit older -- the only one I can think of is Trent Lott.
Do you... really think that there are a lot of people named "Jacksonville"? Or do you think that every place named "Jackson" is short for "Jacksonville"?
Cheyenne is more popular in the US than Charlotte among people about 20-30 years old, as Charlotte hovered around the 300th most popular girls' name through the '90s and early '00s, while Cheyenne made it into the top 100 around that time, peaking at 68 in 1996-97. But you're going to be seeing a lot more Charlottes, as it's been a top 10 girls' name in the US since 2014, and a top 3 name since 2021, while Cheyenne is currently down at 790.
Having one of these names myself, I've endured being called East Equatorial Africa a few times. But I just met someone named Texarkana the other day, and realized I really don't have it bad at all.
