We had to remove Melbourne from this quiz because it's unclear if Melbourne or Sydney is #1.

You can go to Wikipedia to check out the mess.

I couldn't write Thessaloniki correctly.

Osaka didn't came into my mind, same as Alexandria.

Yeah, and why isn't Tonga on this quiz? How dare a quiz of just a few countries miss out the country I'm interested in, don't they know just how much the world must revolve around my part of the world...?

Got everything but the second city proper in Bolivia. I tried "Alto", though... I knew it would be the upper part of La Paz.

Bolivia stumped me, too. Was close to acing this one but didn't get either of the Bolivian cities.

I kind of think of Ecatepec to be a Mexico City suburb, not so much a city in its own right.

It depends on how you consider "urban area" and "city proper". Ecatepec (as well as every other Mexico City suburb) is a municipality, with a Municipal President (mayor) and everything else. Since each municipal government is based on a city proper (that normally shares the same name), Ecatepec counts as a city proper. However, it's normally considered into the Mexico City metro area when listing the largest cities in Mexico, making it quite obscure for many people (even in Mexico).

I highly doubt that Bergen's urban area (stated as 238 k) is smaller than the city proper (stated as 272 k).

Large city limits? China is notorious for city limits extending beyond the urban build-up. The USA has both extremes.

Like on Chongqing - it's city proper is 30 mil but its urban area is only 7 mil.

I take it that Salonika is no longer a valid name for Thessaloniki. Oh well, was just being a bit lazy and didn't want to type out Thessaloniki in full!

I managed to be in two of those cities today. Any guesses?

No, that is too cruel -- a hint: perhaps two extremes of Europe.

I suspect that both were early capital cities in their effective countries (economic regions).

This quiz is quite confusing and rather annoying with the city proper split. Might be my misunderstanding of definitions but couldn't understand what was meant - trying to come up with the city proper name of places such as Antwerp/Monterrey when it turned out to be a completely different place altogether

El alto and la paz being separate answers is strange. El Alto is the second largest city proper, but still under La Paz urban area? Maybe we should consider the metro area to be the El Alto-La Paz area and count either as the answer for the metro area. I thought the standard was to name the metro area after the largest city, so when that changes maybe the name should change
