"The first U.S. state to . . . have Elvis" is an interesting choice of words. I can't argue that the clue isn't technically correct as written, however.

About halfway through the quiz I forgot I was supposed to be guessing states and started guessing cities for some reason.

Me too! I actually typed San Francisco out twice for the first Chinatown being like "No, this is right!" lol

Cool quiz. South Carolina seceded in 1860, though.

I'm assuming Quizmaster was thinking about the start of the civil war in 1861. But South Carolina definitely seceded on December 20, 1860.

Virginia was the first successful settlement by the British, technically North Carolina was first with Roanoke Colony

Definitely second this. Either add permanently to the questions or accept North Carolina.

Just my $.02 - I like the idea for this quiz, but don't love the execution. Why give a hint on one question (and only one question) when there are several that are probably more obscure? Also didn't like the phrasing on the Elvis question or the Super Bowl question...

Agree that the question with the hint doesn't really it - it's not nicknamed the silver state for nothing, after all !

What's wrong with how the Super Bowl question is phrased?

I found the wording odd: the state didn't win the super bowl; a team from this state won the super bowl.

"Have a Super Bowl-winning team" would be more accurate. Easy fix.

Only got the nuclear reactor question because of Simpson lore... and George H W inferred that the simpsons weren't useful to American families hahahaha

The first nuclear reactor was made in Chicago by Enrico Fermi with a large pile of cadmium and uranium in a football field.

Like 95% of my knowledge of high culture comes from the Simpsons, but I don't recognize that reference. ("Nuclear power" always makes me think of Homer and the plant, but I don't recall a reference to Illinois and the first reactor.)

Small nitpick: New Jersey let women vote from 1776 to 1807, so long as they owned land. Maybe change the clue to 'universal women's suffrage'?

Sorry if this is nit-picky b it the first state to allow women to vote was New Jersey even if it was by a technicality by using the word they instead of men which lasted 30 years from 1776 to 1807 as long as the could prove they owned property. Also the first settlers is confusing too.

New Hampshire was the first state to host a lottery if anyone wanted to know
