Actually, Timely Comics, Marvel Comics predecessor, introduced Captain America. Timely didn't become Marvel until 1961; Captain America was created 20 years earlier.
If my memory serves me right, naming the company a pseudo-Scandinavian name (Häagen-Dazs) was twofold
- The obvious being it sounds fancy & foreign, and thus very premium (something which fooled my dad & I for quite a while!)
- The second being that the company was founded by Polish-American Jews & paid tribute to Denmark, which (despite German occupation) did a tremendous amount for the Jews in WW2. This included smuggling out >90% to Sweden, which kept the prewar Jewish population largely intact.
I know it's still NY State, but wasn't air conditioning invented in Buffalo, not NYC? I guess this could be a NYS quiz, but I kind of thought it was just the city.
Fawlty Towers reference.
No Beastie Boys?

The food is still great quality. Yes, it's expensive, but they provide you a mountain of fries & unlimited peanuts to nosh on!
Vs McDonalds, which gets you angry at the sheer difference between the picture & the Oreo-sized burger you get stateside
My two cents, but feel free to disagree!
