Not meant as a title, even though Dean certainly could be one (Dean Wormer, for instance).

Once I got Hillel Slovak out of my head, I thought about Hillel the Elder. When Elder didn't work, I didn't think to try Rabbi. :(

Commissioner Gordon is amusing. But the jokes on me with Splinter and Chalmers — I'm not aware of them.

Splinter is from teenage mutant ninja turtles and Chalmers is a Simpsons character.

Hillel was not a Rabbi because he lived before Rabbinic Judaism. He is sometimes referred to as Hillel the elder, but there are lots of famous Rabbis you could use instead.

I think the term rabbi with reference to Hillel is actually a bit of an anachronism. I agree with Daniel21 on this one; this is a misapplication of the title based on a simplistic understanding of Jewish titles and positions (all due respect). Hillel specifically is most often referred to with no title at all as opposed to many other Jewish scholars and teachers.

But the title, "Rabbi", was already in use before the Middle Ages. It could be used by any Jewish teacher in the Second Temple Period. It is perfectly fine to call Hillel a rabbi.

I am proud to miss Simpson characters. It's when I start to think of people like Mahatma Ghandi on a level with cartoon characters I'd start to worry.

Absolutely! Shame on people who ingest popular culture like The Simpsons. Now I'm going to go home to my mansion and read Immanuel Kant and Socrates and thank the heavens that I'm not a plebeian. Popular art that brings happiness to millions? Garbage. People who aren't in the intellectual elite deserve to be unhappy, what what!

You may want to allow "Lord" and "Lady" for Rothschild since there are a number of them in addition to just the Barons.
