Excellent range of questions here, very good job.

Without just giving answers, could someone please explain what the analogies for Jefferson/State - ***/Treasury and Bonds/Aaron - Aaron/*** are referring to?

Jefferson was the first Secretary of State and Hamilton was the first Secretary of the Treasury.

Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron's career home run record just like Aaron did to Babe Ruth.

I tried Shakers a.k.a. the other Quakers. Oh well...

They're not at all the same thing though.

For one thing, the Shakers all died out since they didn't have sex.

Quakers, also known as Friends, are dying out more slowly. Although, checking Wikipedia, it would appear that 50% of Quakers are currently in Africa! So maybe they are growing after all.

There were still three living Shakers as of 2025. That is one more than 2024.

To make the analogy of names more exact (and to avoid confusion with e.g. Judas the brother of Jesus) it might be worth changing to "Judas Iscariot is to Jesus".

I'm sure almost everyone tried Judas Priest first.

The Lieberman one is kinda funny because McCain almost chose him to be his running mate. If he had, his campaign probably wouldn't have been a complete joke.

For sure, the campaign became about Palin and what an unqualified sideshow she was, but the McCain camp knew that Obama was a juggernaut. He was really charismatic (in contrast to McCain's staid approach), young, biracial, and especially articulate and inspiring to a new generation of voters. McCain needed to shake things up with something unexpected, so the campaign picked a beautiful woman with an "aw, shucks" demeanor in an attempt to siphon off some of the attention Obama was getting. In retrospect, it was a disaster, and I'm sure McCain wishes he had picked Lieberman or any one of experienced and qualified statesmen and women instead, but I don't think there was any way he was winning that election anyway, against the enthusiasm Obama generated and coming off the heels of the 2008 financial crisis, which happened under a Republican administration. McCain for sure deserved better though. He was a worthy candidate, and a devoted public servant.

I suppose when you put it that way the selection makes sense. I wasn't necessarily saying that McCain would've won with Joe Lieberman, but it would've been less of an embarrassment at least.

And I definitely agree with your last statement. John McCain is one of my favorite politicians (and I say that as a pretty liberal Democrat!). It's a pity he didn't win in the 2000 primaries--he would have been a better President than Bush.

Bit of a pedantic issue to some maybe, but it's not Elizabeth, it's Elizabeth I

But was she known as Elizabeth I when Virginia was colonized, long before Elizabeth II came along? Kinda like WWI wasn't called as such before WWII.
