I do; I was at school, in the cafeteria, when people started spreading the news around. After that, schoolwork sort of grinded to a halt for the day because everyone was too busy talking about her passing.
The only other people to receive that level of attention since have been Pope Francis and Charlie Kirk.
I'm assuming you're talking about the Queen? That was a big deal but I actually thought you were talking about Kobe Bryant in your initial comment! I feel like Kobe and Charlie Kirk have been the most important deaths culturally of the last few years, whereas the Pope and the Queen have been important for other reasons.
The Queen and Charlie Kirk are two people where I think I will always distinctly remember where I was. For the Queen, I was standing at a Giant waiting for my turkey to be sliced at the deli counter when I decided to take out my phone and saw the headline. For Kirk, I was in the OR watching a small bowel resection (the other medical student was scrubbed in so I was sorta just at the side) and my friend texted me about it. It's funny the details you remember--I know people say they remember exactly where they were during the JFK assassination or 9/11. I suppose this is the equivalent for my generation.
Of this list, I remember sitting in my university's dining hall, where I was watching football on my laptop, not too long after returning to school for my second semester, when I saw a news article that said Kobe Bryant had died. Around this time, I was also following the news about the coronavirus and suspecting that something very interesting was about to happen in my life, which was true.
He's very heavily identified with World War II, and was not a young man then. I'm guessing a lot of people are guessing he died a good bit earlier than he actually did. I'm willing to bet that if FDR had lived another 20 years or so, he'd be ranked down near the bottom too. Most of the top answers died young and shockingly, so the rough dates tend to stick in people's minds better. Queen Elizabeth II is a notable exception, but that was very recent.
Disrespectful to who? Genuinely it's not like any of these people are alive to be offended by it and I doubt King Charles or something is here on JetPunk to care either.
fair point i guess but including damn harambe and club penguin and rocket raccoon is wild alongside people who actually died, plus the image feels like a 2016 “welcome home” image; but im just a woke liberal so my point is invalid i suppose

I've had worse quizzes, but not a lot of them.
