Got everyone but Clooney...but I blanked on Kubrick for about 40 seconds even though I've seen most of his movies like 10 times. I need more sleep....

I saw The Passion of the Christ, and confusing my Jesus epics, I thought "At last!" and typed Scorsese. So, my question is, you included Mel Gibson but not Scorsese!!?

It's a grab bag here but Penny Marshall, Kathryn Bigelow, Sofia Coppolla, Greta Gerwig would certainly be well-known, easily answered picks.

It says "#1," so presumably there are more, and some women will show up, but the hard truth is that there aren't that many well-known woman directors. Partdavid got pretty much all of them. Other than the ones they mentioned, I can think of Nancy Meyers, Chloe Zhao...who else? Mary Harron? Amy Heckerling? Some actresses have directed a film here and there: Olivia Wilde, Regina King. But there aren't that many that the average movie goer would know.

The fact that Christopher Nolan is not on this list is very sad because he is one of the greatest directors of all time.

I think a yellow box would do this quiz some good. I like using Jetpunk to learn bits and pieces and got some ppl I’d never heard of by random guesses in diff movies
