Great quiz - I tried Hartlepool for the internal organ one, but can see that it shouldn't be allowed as the 'le' isn't accounted for in the clue, and to be fair, Hartlepool isn't one of the better known places in the world - in fact, it isn't even a city. I'm beginning to wish I hadn't started typing this now ...

The only one I missed was Beirut. I kept trying TigerLeaf, which I think is a great name for a city! :)

Dover is hardly a "world city"

According to Wikipedia, Dover UK has a population of around 31000 and Dover , Delaware, USA despite being the state capital, only has a populaton of around 36000

even adding the 2 together doesnt get anywhere near to even 100,000

Yes, but the white cliffs of Dover are quite famous, which would made city to a world city as well.
+1
Level 86
Nov 23, 2018
It doesn't really work, but not because of the size of the respective populations.

Dover, England is well known as a port and for the nearby cliffs, but it is not a city (it's a town).

Dover, Delaware is the state capital, but I think it's fair to say that it is not well enough known to be considered a "world city".

I would lose the garment part, just modify would do.

(and the garment part threw me, trying to think of all sorts of sewing terms, just modify I think would have gotten me alter. But apart from my personal experience, I would still say just modify would be better)

Nice quiz. Much more challenging than the first one, but isn't it more like re-add and not re-odd? That one totally threw me off.

I mean, Krakow is properly pronounced closer to "crack-oov" and Zurich a bit like "tsyur-eesh" and Toulouse more like "too-looze" and so on. Many of these are approximations at best, and there's a lot of Anglicization going on. Just comes with the territory.

Your pronunciations for Krakow and Zurich are wrong as well. In English they are usually pronounced cra-cow and zew-rick

Got everything except for Krakow. I didn't consider anything for "to break into a safe" other than "pick", and I couldn't think of a Pickow or Pickouch.

Yes, I know you crack a safe, but you pick a lock. I was sure it was pick.

It’s also barely a city. More a territory really, the only built up bit being in the north west corner and population of the whole peninsula at around 30,000.

Dover’s not a city either, even though I was born there…
