I mean That's actually a reasonable request (Ullan Bataar) because Ulaanbaatar is the normal spelling, sometimes with 2 as at the end or 1 a in either of the spots, it can be spelled as anything like this: Ulaanbaatar, Ulaan Baatar, Ulaanbaator, Ulaan Baator, Ulaanbator, Ulaan Bator, Ulanbaatar, Ulan Baatar
Ulanbaator, Ulan Baator, Ulanbator, Ulan Bator. So I think adding an extra l isn't so unreasonable as adding an extra l to dheli or s to brasilia. (brasilia not brasalia).
In my head Tehran was much deeper inside Iran than it actually is (less than 100 km from the Caspian coast). Was surprised Ankara didn't make it, but I see it's a near miss.
It had been called Astana, then switched to Nur-Sultan, but on September 17th of this year it was changed back to Astana. Fun fact: Astana means capital city in Kazakh.
I used Google Earth's circle tool to measure the distance. After rechecking with Google Maps' distance tool, I get a distance of 186 km to the sea near Alapli, Zonguldak Province.
Did anyone else type countries? It took my 3 minutes to figure out that I had to type capitals. I was so confused as to why countries like Brazil weren’t working.
The guy it was renamed for, Nursultan Nazarbayev, is still alive. Imagine having a city named after you, just to see it changed back three years later…
La Paz is quite close to the border with Peru - on the order of 75km. (Or about 50km from the shore of Lake Titicaca, which per the quiz description should count.)
Unless you mean Ciudad de La Paz*, which is about 55km from the border with Gabon.
* (Yeah, I know you didn't mean that. Just being silly.)
