It's an old joke: Los Angeles is 100 suburbs looking for a city. But there are actually only 88 independent cities in Los Angeles County. Bear in mind, an independent city has its own government; Marina del Rey, for example, is unincorporated county land.

I was surprised to see that my hometown, Glendora, had a guess rate of over 20%. I guess we're not that much of a mystery after all.

I actually didn't guess it, but I've heard of it thanks to the Rilo Kiley song of the same name.
