I'll admit Indian geography is not my forte, but doesn't the Ganges go through Dhaka (which I think is larger than the other cities you listed)?

When I googled "largest cities on the ganges" before I published the quiz, Kolkata came up as the biggest city, so thats why Dhaka isn't there

Kolkata is on the Hooghly River (a "distributary" of the Ganges) rather than on the Ganges proper.

The Padma River, a "distributary" of the Ganges, comes within about 20 miles of Dhaka, but that's about as close as it gets.

Interesting quiz. I think Novy Sad at 289K has a larger population than Linz at 203K (though I suppose it depends on the source of your stats).
