Metropolitan Statistical Areas are an official designation for US cities created by the US Office of Management and Budget. When talking about international cities, a more general term like Urban Area or Metro Area would be used.

It would not hurt to specify that your quiz is for US cities only and not for all cities in the world.

The term "metropolitan area" is not only used by the US.

It is also normal that not every person is familiar with the names of the terms used for statistics in each country.

So it would be very helpful for many quiz takers if you could add a very short reference anywhere mentioning that your quiz focuses on cities in the US. Hope you will reconsider.

I love this! It really demonstrates why using metro or urban area makes more sense than city proper in most cases. A city proper can include as much or as little of its actual area of influence as it wants to, apparently down to less than a tenth of that area's population! It contrasts wildly with a consolidated city-county like Indianapolis, which has just under 50% of its metro pop in city limits.

This is great. Seems like the problem is mostly on the East Coast with the major exception of Riverside.

Can you please state clearly upfront that you've only bothered to include US cities in the quiz?
