Every republic on this list simply has a crown because it was a former monarchy.

You would think that a former monarchy would get rid of the crowned coat of arms, and of course most have. The republics on this list (except for San Marino) have something else in common: they were monarchies that became communist republics that became post-communist republics, and therefore ended up changing their flags and coats of arms back.
