Born in Gdansk

Gdansk is the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the fourth-largest metropolitan area. The former member of the Hanseatic League on the Baltic coast has a comlex history, with periods of Polish, Prussian and German rule and a period of autonomy. The important trade point was the birthplace of the Solidarity move, which played a major role in bringing an end to Communism in Poland.
