Average of the countrys area rank and the countrys population rank. Maybe there is a better way to say it in english.

Countries are given a rank for population (China = 1, India = 2, USA = 3, Indonesia = 4, etc.) and a rank for area (Russia = 1, Canada = 2, China = 3, USA = 4, etc.).

(Population rank + Area rank) / 2 = the score listed here

Different outcome (would give countries with both ranks in a similar range a higher number than those with more extreme values, but same average).

As a lover of small and under-populated places, I would criticise your use in the description of the word "best" to describe "large and heavily-populated"! Could you change that to "lowest" (or similar)?
