If you think that Tom was right the whole movie don’t even dare to talk to me. Summer doesn’t owe him ANYTHING, he just fell in love too fast and had too many expectations toward her that was just fantasies, nothing more, nothing less.
We had the story from his point of view, so obviously, Summer is seen as a "bad person" which she is not, Tom don’t want to get over her through the entire movie until the very end of it, he found peace to "forgive" her finally but she never needed to be forgiven. She did nothing wrong, she had all the right to do whatever she wanted. And Tom didn’t liked that because he idealised her too much.
