"Uncle Sam" was Samuel Wilson, a meat packer in Troy, NY who supplied the US Army during the War of 1812.

This seems to be a myth constructed three decades later. Also, the use of Uncle Sam predates the War of 1812.

The fact that only 39% of people picked Fred Rogers as being real is crazy. Guys if you don’t know about Mr. Rogers, please go read about him. He was an absolutely amazing person.

This isn't really how the stats work on a Sudden Death quiz.

I understand that, but he still is at the bottom of the guessed correctly section, which indicates that a lot of people were at least highly uncertain as to whether he was real.

People could of failed before reaching Mr. Rogers, doesn't mean they didn't think he was real, as most people will go in order answers further down or in the bottom right quadrant will always be less guessed (obviously this goes only for non randomized quizzes).

Non-American here. Until a few months ago I didn't know the first name of Mr. Rogers and I would definitely not recognize it's him in this quiz.

If it had said "Mr. Rogers" I definitely would have gotten it. Loved that show. This comment is the first time I've heard his first name

Troy NY has signs all over the city proclaiming "the home of Uncle Sam" . . . I believe you that he is not real but that's quite a myth they're keeping alive!

Very difficult quiz for me, I only knew a handful of names, the vast majority were completely new to me

I got ONE point. But I'm not mad at that. I'm mad because it was FORREST GUMP that got me out. Why would I click Forrest Gump‽

Quite the Forrest Gump move to lose at the game for choosing Forrest Gump as a real historical figure.

Non American here. Got 18 before Jay Gatsby tripped me up. You don’t have to be American to get a good score - although I was surprised that Yogi Bear wasn’t on the list! Haha!

Man, Juan Valdez was the hardest one for me. Such a common, generic name, I couldn't place to whom it would be referring. I also know a Valdez family with at least three Juans in it, though they don't just go by Juan (Juan Carlos, Juan Manuel, and Juan Diego)
