Only 2 of Hawaii's 5 counties are metropolitan statistcal areas. 2 are micropolitan statistical areas.

Tiny Kalawao County is set aside as a fading leper colony on the island of Molokai and is not part of any metropolitan or micropolitan statistcal area.
