Since when is Great Britain accepted for the UK? Is it because you lumped both Irelands together?

UK is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland so it is not an island but many islands and a bit of the island of Ireland to boot. Great Britain consists of Scotland, England Wales and all of their outlying islands, Skye, Wight, Anglesey etc. so it is not an island either but rather many islands. The main island of Great Britain is called Britain, which therefore should be the correct answer to this question.
