There was never a country called Mesopotamia. It's a region. Which Iraq doesn't really line up with perfectly anyway. This would sort of be like saying the former name of Russia is Siberia.. or the former name of Turkey is Asia Minor... or the former name of Algeria is the Sahara Desert...

I agree with the Mesopotamia remark, can't really go 1:1 with Iraq here. There were some good suggestions above, one I would add is Dahomey, a former name of Benin. Other than that, good quiz :)
