Name the cities and towns of the UK that were designated as 'new towns' in the postwar period. Some of these towns were built nearly from scratch, while others were pre-existing towns that were developed and expanded.
Towns are listed in order of the date they were designated; the middle column gives their 2021 populations (according to citypopulation.de). Ceremonial counties are given to help with the English towns.
Excluding Stonehouse (de-designated three years after its designation) and Central Lancashire (designated as a new town, but was in reality more of a regional development project than a program of new town-building).
