Geography starting in V, with second letters A-Z

Can you guess these names of places and quasi-geographical entities from around the world, with the first two letters Va-Vz? Really had to scrape the bottom of the barrel here to find anything. I have given some crossword-type clues to assist in working out the missing letters of the answers.
For example, the clue "Manet confused in Asian nation" could be (Vi)-ETNAM.
