I was choosing the most italian sounding names.

And it kept working!

Molto buono. Yeah, with these quizzes I've made, I've tried to make most of them guessable - if it sounds Italian, it probably is.

64% of sudden deaths come from Sausalito? Don’t people know the American road trip anthem Sausalito Summer Nights by Diesel?

I almost fell for it because there's an Italian football team Sassuolo from the same town.

For me, it was the red herring about 'Syracuse', although I knew about the ancient city. So after 23 obvious cities, I guessed Sausalito, which sounds the most Italian. It was possibly the same for others.

Syracuse NY isn't the only town in the USA named after italian towns

Well all the others are more well-known cities in other countries, I’d argue. Sausalito was the only non-Italian city I hadn’t heard of.

Easy 5 points, it scares me that 8% thought Barranquilla was italian

never heard of 4 of these, perugia (which I missed) sausolito, curitaba and barranquilla

The last two sounded more spanish though, so it was sausolito that got me.

Tripoli was named wrong but is a village outside Mantua

Interesting, good one.

Not a city, then, so it's still fine to leave it there.

I still picked it because I thought it was the Italian one so I understand why you would leave it but it is still slightly unclear as you dont define city. Perhaps if you say 'most populous city with this name' if that is the case for these

That's a good suggestion. In this case, anyone who has heard of that village will have heard of the other Italian cities too. And the best sudden strategy to pick off the most likely options first. Also, someone who knows the village will surely think "This has been made by an English speaker, and they will be referring to the Libyan city".

That Tripoli in Italy is no municipality though (hamlet of the municipality San Giorgio Bigarello). One could specify that just municipalities are valid.

Vientiane would have fit perfectly on this list

Tripoli shouldn't be in this game. It is actually a settlement in Italy as well as in many other countries
