Great quiz, nominated. I actually found it easier to go from east to west even though I switched Kazan and Samara. (For me at least) the middle is the hardest part.

Yeah. I'm utterly floored to learn that Kazan is west of Samara. I had to double check it on the map.

(I mean, yes, it's at the eastern end of that big bend in the river, but still. I think in my mind, the Volga runs much more NE-SW than it does in reality, where it's almost straight N-S at that part.)
