I'm sorry, but how is Canada worse than the United States. Where are Sweden and Finland on the best list and where are North Korea, Somalia, Syria and Yemen on the worst list?

I think the life expectancy and/or their HDI could be affecting America's high rank.

the HDI of Canada is ever so slightly lower than America's (literally 0.01 iirc), and its LE is definitely higher lol.
