very poor quiz, unclear rules, Lithuania and Georgia countries formed USSR in 1990s, Myanmar in 1947 etc etc etc I have the impression that there are a lot of similar mistakes or inconsistencies in the rules here
Lithuania and Georgia were not formed during the USSR, they are much much older than that. But the quiz is weird and uses different rules for different countries so it's all confusing.
Can you explain what counts as the start of a country, or not. I'm very confused by what looks like inconsistencies to me.
Greece is not counted, i'm assuming because it was taken over/occupied by the Ottoman Empire, until the 1820's. However, Ireland and Vietnam are both included, even though they were occupied, and there are countries starting with I and V that, should technically bump them using the rule that didn't include Greece.
And why China isn't included is a total mystery to me.
I must agree with the criticisms here. China has been an independent country far longer than Chile. Greece existed as an independent country before Georgia, even if you discount it during the Ottoman occupation (and if you do, then you must discount the time when Georgia was part of the USSR). Luxembourg was independent before Lithuania became a country again after the breakup of the USSR. Denmark, in continued existence for at least 1,000 years is older than Dominican Republic. The Vatican became a country in 1929 but Vietnam only gained independence in 1945.
I'm sorry, but this quiz really doesn't live up to the usual high standards of Jetpunk.
What is your source for this quiz?
Without a source this isn't ideal - but hey, for some reason a bunch of people are taking it 9 years after it was created :)
