"Pakistan" has two etymologies: from "pak",Urdu/Persian for pure, and "stan", Farsi for "land of", and as an acronym of Punjab, Afghania, Kashmir and BalochiSTAN.
The "Sri" in Sri Lanka is an honorific term in Sanskrit, "Lanka" does mean island.
