Assuming you clicked on Lincoln first, although Trump is currently more guessed (no surprise there, maybe it will change with Lincoln being the first). I did Lincoln then Trump personally.
Dang, I will admit that Andrew Johnson is a tricky one as he was Lincoln's vp and they were at the opposite political sides. I accidentally clicked Wilson
he is at 76%, I am assuming that is because people die on other presidents first. If he was first on this list I am sure that the number would be much higher than Lincoln (People need to learn history cuz he also sits at 76%)
I think you can remove the Only Includes Presidents Since The Civil War because the Republican Party was founded in the 1850's and only has had presidents since Abraham Lincoln won the election in 1860
Andrew Johnson was a Democrat. A very stupid combination we see as Johnson basically put no punishments on the states that were in the Confederacy. This is most likely why presidents no longer have a VP from another party serve with him
I quickly clicked on all the answers that I knew for sure, then had 3 left. So I looked at all the remaining answers, and I knew for sure that all but 3 were incorrect... so the remaining 3 (somewhat more obscure late 19th century presidents) had to be correct.
Nothing hairy about it. He was a Democrat before becoming VP, specifically chosen as Lincoln's running mate because he was a Democrat, and officially served, while president, as a Democrat.
That was the party he founded in 1912 after he lost the Republican nomination to Taft, and then both of them lost the election to Woodrow Wilson. Then the party lost support and eventually fell apart, and Teddy became a Republican again in the final few years of his life.
The other way around: after stepping aside in 1908 to let Taft run as the Republican candidate for President, TR had second thoughts in 1912 and tried, but failed, to win the Republican nomination for President. He then founded the Bull Moose Party and ran as its candidate for President in 1912, but only succeeded in splitting the Republican vote, electing Wilson.
As a non-American I'm surprised that my 10/19 beats 65% of the test takers. It's often very difficult to compete in quizes strictly about the U.S. on this website.
(Jacktheguy said it better and shorter.)
First try: *immediately picks Andrew Johnson*
