Franklin was a good one not only because of Ben Franklin, but also because of the Franklins Pierce and Roosevelt. If you're looking for other good "distractors," Hamilton would probably be a good one.
Perhaps some vicepresidents or UK prime ministers. Perhaps even (somewhat) famous names from sport or literature might work. Names that you ve heard before, but can't quite remember in connection to what. The ones that "work" (trick you) ofcourse depends on how bad you are in those particular fields.
There is great misdirection in the non-presidents. Here's who I think of:
William Jennings Bryan, Henry Clay, Christopher Columbus, Jefferson Davis, Ben Franklin, Thurgood Marshall, Brigham Young... others are common American last names that one could think of as possible presidents too. (I'm sure others can ascribe American figures here as well, such as Joseph Smith, Scott Walker, etc.)
President John Adams died when his son John Quincy Adams was president. John Quincy Adams lived through his Presidency, then he died a couple decades later.
The Presidents that did die in office were:
William Henry Harrison by pneumonia in 1841,
Zachary Taylor by a stomach bug in 1850,
Abraham Lincoln by assassination in 1865,
James Garfield by medical tampering after an assassination attempt that would have failed otherwise in 1881,
William McKinley by assassination in 1901,
Warren Harding by a heart attack in 1923,
Franklin Roosevelt by a cerebral hemorrhage in 1945, and
How dare you not recognize Franklin's presidency. He was the greatest US president, who invented electrictiy and freedom. Your quiz deserves to be removed for this atrocity!
This one was awesome, thank you!
Maybe a few more "distractors" could make it a little tougher, though I can't think of any off the cuff.
(Also, nice to see a fellow free stater!)

that's even more impressive
Memorizing pattern of the names✅
