From an outsider's standpoint, you guys seem to have a strange definition of "Southern" in this context which excludes not only the largest Southern city of them all - Los Angeles but also your southernmost state of the lot - Hawaii. Can you explain the reasoning for the benefit of ignorami such as myself?

Also - could you put USA in the title, please?

In the USA, the "South" doesn't just refer to places that are in the southern half of the country (like you said Los Angeles or Hawaii) even though that is the case with every Southern State. The South is not just a geographical region. It has a specific culture and history that helps shape the rest of the country. During the American Civil War, the Southern States split from the rest of the country to form the Confederate States of America. The South is more than just the southern states of the USA. It has a culture and history unique and different than other "southern" places (like you said L.A. & Hawaii). If you look up the US Census Bureau's definition of the South, it includes some states that many don't consider "Southern" like Delaware or DC, but is spot on for most states like Louisiana, Mississippi, the Carolinas, etc.

Also, I put "cities in the Southern UNITED STATES" in the description of the quiz. You're welcome :)

The South can't be exactly drawn out with borders. There is a lot of discrepancy with what exactly is and isn't Southern. Missouri, for example, is in the Midwest and is widely not considered Southern. However, some people consider the southern half of Missouri Southern, or even all of Missouri Southern. Some people also don't consider the DC area, the western part of Texas, Northern Virginia, or even Southern Florida "Southern". However, there are states that are definitely Southern like Tennessee, North Carolina, and Arkansas. There are also the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina which make up the Deep South. Bottom line: the "South" is a complicated, yet significant region with a unique cultural and historical background. When you enter the South, you will know that you're in it. (btw, I'm from California but I've been to the South, so I know what it's like)
