Although Brisbane is Australia's third largest city after Sydney and Melbourne, the City of Brisbane is Australia's largest local government area (LGA) by population as it covers the majority of Brisbane (the remainder being in the City of Logan, the Moreton Bay Region and the City of Redlands)

The head of government of the City of Brisbane is the Lord Mayor (the current Lord Mayor is Adrian Schrinner of the Liberal National Party of Queensland)
