Very surprised Napoleon isn't on the list for France.

Level 84
Oct 15, 2019
That's because the quiz the data comes from asks for "Presidents of France".
+5
Level 89

To be fair, unless you're clicking on the links in the instructions, you won't realize that the quizzes referenced are presidential quizzes, and the title of this quiz is simply "leaders".

Level 68

I had to use the generic "leader" term since some are Presidents and some are Prime Ministers. I've updated the quiz now to show which is asked for under their respective country.

Napoleon the 3rd was the first president of France.

Napoleon III has been president of France, and would/should count...

Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte is seventh in the presidents of France quiz, though ;).

i was thinking of Diefenbaker for Canada but that is just because of Due South.

Instructions should probably include something about elected leaders or leaders of the modern era, because I doubt this list would be accurate if Elizabeth I or Louis XIV or Napoleon were in the running...
+3
Level 73
Oct 16, 2019
As per the instructions, the answers come from the quizzes 'US Presidents', 'CA Prime Ministers', 'UK Prime Ministers', 'AUS Prime Ministers', 'FR Presidents' and 'IS Prime Ministers'

So yes, the list would not be accurate if they were in the running

Level 89

Well, no. The instructions don't say that the answers come from those quizzes, they just provide country abbreviation links to those quizzes. I don't click the links in quiz instructions because it seems like cheating. So all I saw were instructions to name the world leaders of those countries before I took the quiz.

Since some are Presidents and some are Prime Ministers, I've updated the quiz now to show which is asked for under their respective country. I hope this suffices.

Interesting how the "Most Guessed" list doesn't always match the most guessed by Jetpunkers in this quiz.

He never was a president of France! But you're right in a way, the quiz is flawed, especially for France which has had a bunch of different regimes. During the third republic, the president was more like the king in constitutional monarchies, the power was held by the president of the council of ministers (who was like a prime minister).

I wasted SO much time trying to spell the French! Then a mental block remembering ANY of our Australian Prime Ministers. In all fairness, it seems we have another one every other month.

I went backwards through our Prime Ministers over the past 50 years or so and forgot Theresa May! We've only just gotten shot of her as well.

to be super technical, haha, they share similar names but the younger is often referred simply by his middle initial, "W". Whereas you usually specify George H.W. or Bush Sr (at least in my family)

Many answers have been re-arranged, plus:

1. Bush Jr. is now more guessed than Sr.

2. Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak are tied, more guessed than David Cameron

3. Anthony Albanese has beaten out Malcolm Turnbull

+1
Level 76
Mar 28, 2025
I know more recent figures are fresher in peoples memories, but I'm shocked by how few historical leaders are on the list. Like, is Bush really guessed more often than Lincoln or Roosevelt? And John Curtin isn't in the top 5 for Australia? That's honestly surprising for me.

This quiz could certainly use an update given that it's been four years and the answers for Canada, Australia, and the UK have all changed.

Since Sir John A. Macdonald is written with his knighthood present, should Kier Starmer be shown as ‘Sir’ Kier Starmer for consistency? Winston Churchill could also be included as ‘Sir’ Winston Churchill, though he was not a knight for most of his premiership.

Thanks.
