Highest Grossing Indian Movies by Year

Amount of rupees is approximated, includes overseas gross, but may not be completely accurate. However, if the amount earned overseas leads a movie to be on this list when it shouldn't regularly be, the highest grossing in India will also be on this list. Two movies are used when there is doubt on which movie made more money, or when a film only became the highest grossing due to overseas gross; e.g., Disco Dancer. The tilde is used to give an approximate average when there are two movies.
