Scientists do not agree wether the Mediterranean sea is part of the Atlantic Ocean or not, so you should not be so affirmative. Even the International Hydrographic Organisation considers the two versions depending on the context of discussion - but rather consider it as a distinct water area...

Croatia has coastline on the Adriatic...which is a side-sea of the Mediterranean...which is a side-sea of the Atlantic (disputably). Suggest you change the way the question is phrased...or just include it as a possible answer. No one likes a quizmaster relying on a tenuous technicality! :)

Croatia is in the Adriatic Sea, so that's the side sea of a side sea - how far does that argument go? Technically, every sea is connected to the Atlantic, or Pacific or each other, except the Caspian and other closed lakes.

To exclude Croatia on this basis is clearly and utterly wrong.

They'll be saying Cyprus isn't in Europe next.
