Gap-fill on Ainsworth's Strange Situation (1970

Mary Ainsworth created a [c__] observation to measure children's quality and [t__] of attachment. There are [_] stages

Stage 1: Mother and baby enter the room. Stage 2: [s__] joins them. Stage 3: Mother [l__] and stranger interacts with infant, and at this point [st__] anxiety is recorded. Stage 4: Mother returns and [r__] behaviour is recorded. Stage 5: Mother and stranger leave and [se__] anxiety is recorded. Stage 6: Stranger returns and [st__] anxiety is recorded again. Stage 7: Mother returns and stranger leaves, and [r__] behaviour is recorded again.

The results show that [___] attachment (type B) is the most common at [__]%. Children with this type show [m__] distress during separation anxiety. For stranger anxiety, children were [a__] when they were alone, but [f__] when their mother was present. Their reunion behaviour was [c__] and [h__].

Insecure - [___] attachment (type A) was the second most common at [__]%. For separation anxiety, children showed [__] visible distress. For stranger anxiety, they were [__] with the stranger and played [n__]. When reunited with their mother, they showed [___] interest.
