1. How many planets are there?
This is a very well-known fact, though before 2006, there were 9 planets. The discovery of dwarf planet Eris led to the creation of that category and the demotion of Pluto.

10
2. Which of the following dwarf planets used to be a planet?
Explained in the reasoning for the above answer.
Pluto
Eris
Haumea
Makemake
3. Which of the following moons is about half the diameter of its planet/dwarf planet
Charon and Pluto actually orbit each other in what is called a “double planet system.” (Changed from “size” to “diameter” because of XYU pointing out “size” indicates “volume” more than “diameter.” Thanks, XYU!
Charon
Hi’iaka
Ganymede
Titan
4. What moon is larger than Mercury?
Triton
Luna (Earth’s Moon)
Io
Ganymede
5. How many of the planets can fit in Jupiter?
Jupiter is so much larger than any other planet, in both diameter and volume, that they can all fit in it!
3
4
6
All of the other planets
6. Which planet or dwarf planet is in the Asteroid Belt
A simple question, self-explanatory.
Mars
Ceres
Jupiter
Eris
7. Which of the following is a slightly smaller object, like the above, that is not quite a planet or dwarf planet?
Vesta is currently considered an asteroid, though it is a candidate for dwarf planet status.
Namaka
MK2
Vesta
Orcus
8. Which planet’s moons are all named after characters in Shakespeare’s plays?
For instance: Titania, Oberon, Miranda, Prospero, and Puck
Uranus
Neptune
Saturn
Mars
9. Which of the following celestial objects has an orbital period of more than 40,000 years?
At aphelion, The Goblin is more than 2,000 AU from the Sun!
Sedna
Orcus
541132 Leleakuhonua (The Goblin)
Quaoar
10. Which of these was an asteroid and a planet in the past?
When Ceres was first discovered, it was called a planet. However, other discoveries pushed it to asteroid status. It is now classified as a dwarf planet.
Sedna
Orcus
Vesta
Ceres
11. Which of these objects were discovered first (with an extremely elongated orbit)?
Hence the term “Sednoid” for objects with long orbits, rather than “Leleakuhonuoid.”
Sedna
Pluto
541132 Leleakuhonua
Haumea
12. Which of these is the only Solar System object named after a Hawaiian deity?
Haumea is the Hawaiian goddes of childbirth and fertility.
Orcus
Haumea
Quaoar
Eris
13. Which dwarf planet has more moons than the inner planets?
Pluto has five moons. Earth and Mars have a combined 3.
Eris
Pluto
Makemake
Haumea
14. How many Earths can fit into Jupiter’s Great Red Spot
It used to be 3, but the Great Red Spot has slowly been shrinking.

1.3
15. How many Earths could fit in Jupiter itself; how many in the Sun?
This is based on volume, not mass. Because Earth’s radius is so much smaller, more than a thousand can fit in Jupiter, and thus more than a million in the Sun.
1,000; 1,000,000
1,300; 1,300,000
4,000; 4,000,000
27,000; 27,000,000
16. What did Neptune have that eventually vanished?
Discovered when Voyager 2 passed Neptune, the spot vanished in 2022.
Oceans
High-speed winds
The Great Dark Spot
Life
17. What is the average temperature of Venus, in Fahrenheit
The thick layers of clouds induce a massive greenhouse effect. You could cook your eggs in seconds on the surface of Venus!
700°
120°
900°
2,670°
18. Compared to Uranus’s orbital distance, how far is Neptune from the Sun?
Uranus is around 1.8 billion miles away from the Sun, while Neptune is around 2.7 billion, a difference of 900 million miles, or half the distance from Uranus to the Sun farther.
It is closer than Uranus
Close to twice as far away
About a quarter of the distance farther
About half the distance farther
19. How old is the Solar System?
Much research has been done on this topic. The water people drink has been proven to be hundreds of millions of years old!
1 billion years
2 billion years
4.5 billion years
10 billion years
20. True or False: Uranus and Neptune used to be in opposite positions.
According to a study from an Arizona State University researcher, around four billion years ago, Neptune and Uranus swapped places.
True
False

Thanks! As for Venus’s temperature, it’s sort of rounding, and most sources I found said it was 900°. But thanks for letting me know!

Charon is half the width of Pluto, so I'd change "size" to "diameter" there; size, to me, suggests volume.
